It isn’t quite as lovely a morning as I would hope for an Election Day. Oh, the weather is fine out, and life continues forward as it usually does. Polls are open and everything.
My problem? A lack of a good night’s sleep for two nights in a row.
This is honestly and exclusively the fault of Writer, who is doing somewhat better but is acting like a kid who is doped up from sedation following a trip to the dentist. He got up several times during the night – including AFTER I got him to fall asleep by laying on the floor with him – to just stand up and stare at us from the foot of the bed. Also like a child would do when having a bad dream (I guess. I obviously don’t and shouldn’t have children.)
So here I am, struggling well after 9 a.m. to get a Good Morning Polk! out to everyone before the morning actually ends.
So today’s brief message: GO VOTE. I shouldn’t have to tell you this, but your vote matters and anyone who says differently through claims of fraud because they lost their election isn’t being honest with you about what’s going on.
I can sit here and write with a clear conscience after watching the same volunteers over the past years work our local election that despite the length of time it sometimes takes to get results out to the public, they do a great job over at the Board of Elections. They are worthy and deserving of our respect and friendship.
Anyone who calls and threatens them, or yells at them is showing themselves to be exactly the kinds of people they are trying to claim that volunteers and employees are. Hypocrisy is one of the worst sins a person can commit in my view. Let’s do better about not letting politicians get away with being one.
Short and sweet is the order for the rest of today’s message. So thanks for giving me your time and patience. See you again tomorrow? Maybe. Depends on how long I’m up tonight again.
