Well, it took a lot of time and effort, but it seems I finally have completed the work to rebuild the infrastructure of the sites and have them as a working unit of sorts.
There are things that are annoying on my end – the way the various sites work together, the way I have to write and post content, some lingering issues I’m working on with the ad system – but overall? The conversion of the sites and addition of new ones now seems to be “complete.”
Well honestly, is anything ever complete? The only thing that is actually final ends in a box or an urn for everyone, so… Consider this project still a work in progress, I guess.
All told: six months of work, give or take, with three different variations to try to get to the same end goal: unify the userbase under one login system, allow content to be shared together, have a unified system for updating the software, and ultimately make life easier for everyone.
I’ll be detailing the process of how all this came together at a later date. I’m exhausted after another 4-day sprint of IT work and I feel like I barely pulled this round of fixing together. But it seems to be working on my end. Users will have to tell me otherwise if it isn’t.
I’ve got an idea for a roadmap ahead for things I still need to do plus some things I’d like to build for in the future that I hope will continue to bring new readers to Myrick Multimedia sites like this one.
I’ll be making some additional tweaks throughout the weekend as I finish up the last little bits of the punch list for the sites before I can finally sit back and relax.
Until then, and as always – stay tuned.
