Shudder the thought

042326 kte

I keep thinking about this particular line from a song in recent days:

“Three guns, one goes off. One’s empty, one’s not fast enough.”
– Alt-J (Listen here)

Maybe it has to do with my dad’s recent love of John Wayne westerns, and that got my mind turning toward the classic “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.” Not the typical Western, but definitely one of the best portrayals from Clint Eastwood over a long and complex career.

But then I return to the line in this song, a poignant reminder of how sometimes the odds are stacked against each of us, while others it comes down to dumb luck. And inevitably I listen to the song half a dozen times in a row to try and get it out of my head.

It never seems to work as well as I want.

Enjoy the earworm.
